Loft & Garage Conversions

You have probably already decided that by undertaking a garage or loft conversion, you can gain a considerable amount of new living, entertaining or home study space.

However, what’s important to you, is finding the right company to undertake your important garage or loft conversion project.

In our experience about 70% of garage and loft conversions require planning permission/change of consent, so you should always check with the local council to verify this. Don't let a builder tell you that planning permission isn't needed and simply accept this. If planning is required and you have started work, or even completed the works, the local authority holds the property owner responsible – not the builder.

On average a single garage or loft conversion takes around 10 days to fully complete, and a double garage takes about 15 days to fully complete. However, one of the most popular garage conversions is converting one half of a double garage, leaving you with a new room and a single garage.

Please contact us if you are planning a loft or garage conversion. We know what we're doing, and can help you with a very competitive quote.

Listed Consent (Conservation) Building Work

In general terms listed building consent is required for all works of demolition, alteration or extension to a listed building that affect its character as a building of special architectural or historic interest.

The requirement applies to all types of works and to all parts of those buildings covered by the listing protection (including objects or structures fixed to the listed building, and to objects or structures within the surrounding land, such as outbuildings), provided the works affect the character of the building as a building of special interest.

It is a criminal offence not to seek listed building consent when it is required, and not knowing a building is listed is not a defence to any criminal proceedings. This makes it very important that any work on a listed building is discussed with the local planning authority.

Here at Culver Construction we have extensive experience of working on listed buildings, so if you are in any doubt, please don't hesitate to ask.

 We're here to help!

If you have a particular project in mind, please get in touch with us today, and we would be happy to come along and give you a quote.
